The full name is the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. They are a registered 501(c)6 non-profit organization. They describe their purpose as to serve and unite the accountancy profession, to develop and maintain high professional standards, to advance the science of accountancy, to develop and improve accountancy education, and to provide for the examination of candidates.
